Bernardo Silva’s Real Madrid role in doubt as competition grows

Bernardo Silva could face a prolonged spell outside Real Madrid’s starting XI, according to reports.

The 32-year-old midfielder has started only one of the club’s past five La Liga matches under Jose Mourinho. The Touchline reports that Silva will struggle to secure a regular place when Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni are fit.

Valverde and Tchouameni are regarded as key members of Mourinho’s team, making it especially difficult for Silva to displace either player from the starting line-up.

Silva joined Real Madrid as a free agent last summer. Before moving to the Spanish club, the Portugal international spent nine years at Manchester City.
