PSG moved to the top of Ligue 1 after second-half goals from substitutes Senny Mayulu and Mika Godts earned them a hard-fought 2-0 win over Lyon at the Parc des Princes.

The result gave Luis Enrique’s side an eighth consecutive victory in all competitions, although they had to wait until the final 20 minutes to break through a disciplined Lyon defence.

Despite missing several key players, PSG made the stronger start. Desire Doue and Fabian Ruiz both went close during the opening 10 minutes as the hosts established control of possession and territory.

Lyon goalkeeper Dominik Greif kept his side in the contest by pushing away a powerful low effort from Ferran Torres. PSG continued to apply pressure, but the visitors created the clearest opening shortly after the half-hour mark.

Julien Duranville found space close to goal, only for Matvey Safonov to tip his effort over the crossbar. That chance encouraged Lyon to attack more positively, with Zachary Athekame also threatening before PSG responded at the other end.

Maghnes Akliouche forced another smart save from Greif as both teams continued to search for the opening goal.

PSG increased the tempo after the interval, but Joao Neves failed to make the most of a promising position inside the penalty area when he fired over.

Lyon remained capable of causing problems and came close through Moussa Niakhate, whose header drew an excellent reaction save from Safonov.

PSG have collected a league-high nine points this season through goals scored after the hour mark, and Enrique again turned to his bench in pursuit of a breakthrough. Lucas Hernandez, Godts and Mayulu were introduced.

The changes quickly paid off. Godts supplied Mayulu on the edge of the area and the substitute drove a superb finish into the bottom corner to score his first goal of the season.

Lyon tried to respond, but PSG found a second goal with six minutes remaining. Quentin Ndjantou’s long pass released Godts, who cut inside one defender before curling an excellent effort beyond Greif.

It was Godts’ first goal for PSG and completed a decisive impact from the substitutes, securing three important points for the home side.

The defeat extended Lyon’s difficult away run. Paulo Fonseca’s team have now suffered three consecutive away losses, the first time that has happened since May 2025.

Flashscore’s Man of the Match was Vitinha of PSG.

Rennes moved six places to the top of Ligue 1 after beating struggling Strasbourg 3-0 at Roazhon Park.

The Red and Blacks extended their unbeaten home run to nine matches with a commanding performance, while Strasbourg’s fourth consecutive league defeat left them in the relegation play-off position.

The opening half-hour was short on attacking quality, with neither team able to establish a consistent rhythm in the final third. Diogo Sousa sent an effort wide after 10 minutes, before Giovanni Reyna saw a header saved for the hosts.

Rennes eventually broke the deadlock just after the half-hour mark. Przemyslaw Frankowski’s pass into the penalty area picked out an unmarked Boulaye Dia, who finished first time to put the home side ahead.

The goal increased the pressure on Le Racing and extended their run without a clean sheet to 16 Ligue 1 matches.

Dia had remained unbeaten in his previous 29 goalscoring appearances for club and country, and Rennes soon strengthened their position before the interval. Four minutes before half-time, Mahamadou Nagida’s ball across the area reached Sebastian Szymanski, who struck a first-time finish beyond Filip Jorgensen.

Strasbourg needed a quick response after the restart if they were to recover, but instead Rennes added a third shortly after the hour.

Szymanski collected possession 25 yards from goal before producing a superb left-footed curling effort. His shot beat Jorgensen and went in off the underside of the crossbar, completing his double and effectively settling the match.

The visitors offered little in the second half and did not manage a single shot on target. Rennes were able to see out the remainder of the game comfortably, securing a victory that lifted them to the summit.

Strasbourg’s latest defeat leaves them in the relegation play-off place after a difficult run of results. Rennes, meanwhile, head the Ligue 1 table and have continued their strong form at home.

Sebastian Szymanski was named Flashscore Man of the Match.

Lyon midfielder Pavel Sulc is expected to be out for about four months after suffering a meniscus injury to his right knee, the Ligue 1 club said on Sunday.

The 25-year-old Czech international was injured in training before Thursday’s Europa League defeat by Hoffenheim and will undergo surgery.

Sulc was Lyon’s second-highest scorer last season, finishing with 14 goals, including 11 in Ligue 1. He has scored twice in 10 appearances in all competitions this term.

The injury is another setback for Paulo Fonseca’s side, who have already lost Lois Openda for several weeks.

“We lost Lois (Openda) for a few weeks, and now we lose Pavel,” Lyon captain Corentin Tolisso said.

“We knew how important he was, just like Lois, and of the impact he brought to our game as soon as he arrived. They're players we're really going to miss.”

Lyon started the weekend level on points with four other teams at the top of the Ligue 1 table. They are currently first on goal difference but face a difficult trip to Paris Saint-Germain on Monday.

The match was moved from Sunday after police requested a postponement amid a wave of violent protests in the French capital.

Monaco ended a run of three successive Ligue 1 defeats by Lille as they recovered from a goal down to draw 1-1 with the visitors, who had Tanguy Nianzou sent off.

The result left both teams one point clear at the top of the table, although Monaco have played one match more than their rivals. It also extended a closely matched contest between sides who began the game with identical records of four wins, two draws and one defeat.

There was little to separate them during a relatively even opening, with the match being played at a fast pace but neither side creating much quality in the final third.

That changed midway through the first half when Lille produced a clinical attack. Soriba Diaoune released Ethan Mbappe with a perfectly weighted through ball, and Mbappe’s first-time finish gave Lukas Hradecky no chance.

Lille’s goal came after Mbappe had scored twice in their midweek UEFA Champions League defeat by Galatasaray, and the travelling supporters celebrated enthusiastically despite their small number.

Monaco struggled to respond before half-time and went into the interval 1-0 behind without registering a shot on target against Berke Ozer.

The hosts improved after the restart and came close to equalising through Aleksandr Golovin. The Russian’s powerful free-kick forced Ozer into a diving save, while Alexsandro produced an excellent last-gasp tackle to deny Golovin after he had run through on goal and appeared ready to shoot.

Monaco continued to build pressure and should have levelled with 25 minutes remaining. Paris Brunner had been lively throughout the match but had failed to produce a decisive finish, and that lack of end product was evident when he turned the ball over the crossbar from six yards.

Brunner was involved again moments later, but this time he was the victim of a reckless challenge by Tanguy Nianzou. The tackle resulted in Lille being reduced to 10 men.

From then on, Monaco dominated possession and territory as they repeatedly pushed towards the visitors’ goal. Their persistence was rewarded in the 74th minute when Brunner got the slightest touch to Edan Diop’s cross, diverting it into the bottom corner.

Monaco remained camped in Lille’s half during the closing stages and pressed for a winning goal, but the visitors held on to secure a point.

The draw brought Monaco’s three-match losing streak against Lille in Ligue 1 to an end and ensured both teams moved one point clear at the summit.

Flashscore Man of the Match: Jordan Teze (Monaco)

Lens recovered from a heavy midweek European defeat to claim a third successive Ligue 1 victory, overturning a deficit to beat Liam Rosenior’s Paris FC 2-1 and deny them the chance to move top of the table.

On a wet and windy evening, Lens controlled much of the early possession, although Paris FC looked dangerous when breaking forward. Obed Nkambadio appeared unsettled in the visiting goal, but Lens could not capitalise on an early misunderstanding with his defence or a poor pass which almost sent Franjo Ivanovic through one-on-one.

As the opening spell settled, Florian Thauvin delivered a free-kick which appeared to strike Diego Coppola’s hand as the defender challenged for the ball. Referee Mathieu Vernice was advised by VAR to review the incident, but decided the contact was not enough to justify a penalty.

Lens responded by creating a clear opening, with Florian Sotoca forcing Nkambadio into an excellent save with a powerful diving header.

Paris FC then produced the first shot on target of the half in the second minute of stoppage time and took the lead. Luca Koleosho ran on to Lassine Sinayoko’s pass before placing his finish beyond Robin Risser and into the bottom-left corner for his first goal of the season.

The visitors almost extended their advantage moments after the restart. Jean-Clair Todibo was initially shown a red card for bringing down Ilan Kabbal as the last defender, but VAR ruled that Kabbal had been marginally offside and the dismissal was overturned.

Kabbal was presented with another opportunity shortly afterwards when he tried to meet Emmanuel Mbemba’s low cross. He failed to make proper contact and then sent his follow-up effort high over the Lens crossbar.

That miss proved costly as Thauvin marked his 300th Ligue 1 appearance with a superb equaliser. Cutting in from the right, the Lens forward found the bottom corner with a precisely placed shot which gave Nkambadio no chance.

The goal prompted Lens to increase the pressure, with Thauvin again at the centre of the decisive moment. His excellent cross into the Paris FC penalty area found Thorgan Hazard, who controlled the ball on his chest before finishing left-footed to complete the comeback and secure all three points for Yannick Cahuzac’s side.

The result was Lens’ fifth consecutive head-to-head victory over Paris FC. It moved them up to sixth place, while Paris FC remain one point ahead of them after suffering only their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season.

Florian Thauvin was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.

Paris Saint-Germain’s rearranged Ligue 1 match against Lyon will take place at the same time as the Ballon d’Or ceremony, meaning the club’s delegation in London will be affected.

The game was moved from Sunday to Monday at the request of Paris police, who are dealing with a wave of violent protests in the French capital and preparing for the first NFL regular-season game in France.

Pittsburgh Steelers play New Orleans Saints at Stade de France on Sunday, placing further demands on the police operation.

PSG manager Luis Enrique said he had no concerns about the fixture being rescheduled, despite the clash with an event at which his club has a record 10 nominees.

“If we play on Monday, it's better given the current situation. I accept it very cheerfully,” Luis Enrique told a news conference.

“You have to keep in mind that Sunday is a special day, there's an American football game, plus the current situation.”

The match between second-placed PSG and leaders Lyon will kick off at 20:30 Paris time (19:30 GMT), a few minutes before the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London concludes with the presentation of the men’s award.

PSG’s nominees are led by defending winner Ousmane Dembele and World Cup winner Fabian Ruiz. Lyon lead PSG on goal difference, although the first six teams are separated by one point and both clubs could be outside the top three by Monday.

Luis Enrique insisted the timing of the ceremony would not influence his preparations.

“It doesn't interest me in the slightest. I remain focused on the match,” he said.

“Many of our players could win the Ballon d'Or. We'll see who takes it home, but it won't change anything regarding what we are striving for as a team.”

Club sources said the rearrangement would inevitably affect the Parisian delegation attending the awards ceremony.

PSG injuries

PSG also face injury concerns after losing three players during Wednesday’s Champions League victory over Barcelona.

Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos suffered thigh injuries, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is facing knee surgery and a longer period on the sidelines.

Luis Enrique said Kvaratskhelia would return stronger because “he is a warrior”.

“It's hard to stay positive after news like this,” the PSG manager added. “It's a risk that comes with being a professional player.”

Despite the injuries, he said the team would continue in the same manner while remaining difficult for opponents to predict.

“It will be business as usual,” he said. “I don't want to change anything I've been doing, yet at the same time, I want to change everything. That's what you have to do to remain unpredictable.”

Luis Enrique also confirmed PSG do not intend to make new signings during the winter transfer window.

“We're not going to ease up. We're a family. We have two or three players out injured, but that's part of competition at the highest level.”

Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 meeting with Olympique Lyonnais has been postponed from Sunday to Monday after police requested the change because of a wave of violent protests in Paris.

The match, which was due to take place at 8:45 pm (1945 GMT) on Sunday, will now be played at 8:30 pm on Monday.

“The LFP takes note of the police decree prohibiting the staging of the game between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday at 8:45 pm (1945 GMT) and has decided to reschedule the match for Monday at 8:30 pm,” the French league said in a statement.

Paris police are expected to deploy resources elsewhere this weekend as authorities prepare for further demonstrations in the capital and across France. The unrest follows some of the worst urban violence in years, which occurred on the margins of protests a week ago.

The disturbances began during nationwide demonstrations over the rising cost of living. Since then, partial curfews have been imposed in parts of Paris and other cities in an effort to prevent further violence.

France’s Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said on Friday that about 70,000 security personnel would be deployed across the country this weekend. He also warned that messages encouraging violence and looting were circulating on social media.

Several Paris museums, including the Louvre, have announced they will close on Saturday. Art Basel Paris, the French capital’s biggest annual art fair, will also end two days earlier than planned because of the risk of protests.

The rearranged fixture could create a scheduling problem for Paris Saint-Germain because it now falls on the same evening as the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.

Ten Paris Saint-Germain players are among the 30 nominees for the award, including last year’s winner Ousmane Dembele.

The club faced a similar situation a year ago when it had to play on the night of the Ballon d’Or ceremony. Its match at Marseille was postponed by 24 hours after storms.

The disruption to the Ligue 1 schedule does not affect Sunday afternoon’s NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints, which is still due to begin at 2:30 pm (1330 GMT).

The fixture will be the first NFL game staged in France and is scheduled to take place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, on the northern outskirts of Paris.

Earlier this week, another French top-flight match was moved after a police request. Toulouse’s Ligue 1 game against Troyes was shifted from Saturday to Sunday.

Matches in France’s second-tier Ligue 2 have also been rescheduled this weekend at the request of police.

Kenya manager Benni McCarthy says Michael Carrick should be given more time at Manchester United, but believes Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique would be his preferred replacement if the club decides to make a change.

United have endured a difficult start to the 2026/27 campaign and sit 13th in the Premier League with seven points from seven matches. They have won one game, drawn four and lost two.

Their poor run has also extended to seven matches without a victory in all competitions. The latest setback was a 4-1 defeat by Serie A side Como in the UEFA Champions League.

Carrick is under increasing pressure as a result, with reports suggesting United could consider replacing him. However, McCarthy, who previously worked as an assistant coach at the club under Erik ten Hag, believes the former midfielder should be backed.

“He’s a young manager, and even if you go and change now, who are you going to get in his place?” McCarthy told Sporty TV, as quoted by Pulse Sports.

“For me, the most deserving manager that I would love to see at Man United is Luis Enrique, but he ain’t going to leave PSG. I wouldn’t do that if I were him.

“They have the money, but I think you’d be a nutcase if you left what is being built at PSG to come to Man United.”

McCarthy also praised Carrick’s work towards the end of last season and said the club should support him with the players he wants.

“Michael (Carrick) has done really well in the back end of last season,” he said.

“So, support him, back him, give him the trust, give him the support that he needs, and give him the players that he wants to bring in. The players respond to him, and they play well under him.”

The former South Africa international said United needed to improve their recruitment and add greater competition to the squad whenever progress had been made.

“There’s no consistency because when you do well, you’ve only done wellnot amazing,” McCarthy added.

“You have to recruit better; you have to add quality to the team that’s done well.

“Every single time some sort of stability comes, you see the following season there aren’t enough quality players brought in to create competition and strengthen the side.”

McCarthy said United had repeatedly failed to build on positive periods, leaving them vulnerable to falling behind their rivals.

“We’ve done well, so we keep the same team. We got to provide competition for the players that we have,” he said.

“So that’s why they keep strengthening the team, and Man United don't seem to do that very well when they’re on the back of a good season; then they rest on their laurels, and instead of adding to help those players now to elevate them, they just keep it the same.

“Then you have shortcomings in the new season, and everybody kind of seems to pass you by, and I think that’s what they need to try and change: a better recruitment structure and a more consistent basis.”

Despite the pressure surrounding him, Carrick is expected to remain in charge when United host Bournemouth in a Premier League fixture on Sunday.

Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 fixture against Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday could be postponed after police raised concerns about security during continuing unrest across France.

The Paris police prefecture has asked the French Professional Football League (LFP) to rearrange the match, which is scheduled to take place in the French capital, according to French media reports.

L’Equipe reported that the game could instead be played on Monday, although no official decision has yet been announced.

The fixture is one of several major sporting events taking place in the Paris area this weekend, placing additional pressure on security resources.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to play the New Orleans Saints in an NFL regular-season game at the Stade de France on Sunday. The match is expected to require a significant police presence.

Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Tuesday that French authorities would deploy a “massive” security operation for protests planned on Saturday. The announcement followed rioting and looting in Paris and other French cities on October 17.

The unrest, among the most serious France has experienced in years, came after weeks of largely peaceful student protests and broader demonstrations linked to the cost of living and declining public services.

Authorities imposed curfews in parts of several cities on Monday.

Another Ligue 1 match has already been rescheduled because of the security situation. Toulouse’s home game against Troyes, originally due to be played on Saturday, has been moved to Sunday at the request of local authorities, the LFP said on Wednesday.

The PSG-Lyon fixture and the NFL game are both scheduled in the French capital area on Sunday, while the Toulouse-Troyes match is being held elsewhere in the country.

Reuters has contacted Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, the LFP and the Paris police prefecture for comment.

Toulouse’s Ligue 1 home match against Troyes has been postponed by one day at the request of the local authorities, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) announced on Wednesday.

The fixture had been scheduled for Saturday but will now take place on Sunday, 25 October, at 5:15 PM. The decision follows a period of civil unrest across France, during which thousands of people were arrested and shops were looted or damaged.

The protests were linked to concerns over high prices and declining public services, and were among the worst unrest seen in France for years.

The Haute-Garonne Prefecture introduced an overnight curfew in parts of Toulouse after the protests. That restriction is due to remain in place until Sunday.

In a statement, the LFP said: “At the request of the Haute-Garonne Prefecture and in agreement with the Ligue1+ broadcaster, the Toulouse FC - ESTAC Troyes match ... is moved to Sunday, October 25 at 5:15 PM.”

The match will therefore be played on the final day of the curfew.

On Monday, Olympique de Marseille and Lille also reported that their official club stores had been looted during the unrest.

Paris FC president Pierre Ferracci is to leave his position earlier than planned, with Antoine Arnault set to take over the Ligue 1 club’s leadership.

Ferracci had been expected to remain in the role until the end of the season, but announced his decision to step down at an event on Monday.

Arnault, representing the family that owns the majority of Paris FC, will become president if his appointment is approved by the club’s Administrative Council on November 9.

Ferracci will take on the position of honorary president after his departure. Paris FC’s Ligue 1 match against Monaco at Stade Jean Bouin on November 1 is expected to be his final game as president.

The outgoing president will also transfer his 28.9% shareholding to Agache Sport, the sporting subsidiary of LVMH. Red Bull will continue to hold a 10.6% stake in the club.

“It is the right time for me to pass the torch,” Ferracci said, according to L’Equipe.

Ferracci leaves Paris FC with the club third in Ligue 1 and level on points with leaders Lyon.

David Rozehnal remains involved in football at 46, more than 15 years after a career that took him from Paris to Rome, brought six trophies and included Champions League and World Cup appearances.

The former Czech Republic defender, the only Czech player to wear the PSG shirt, is now in his eighth year living in Olomouc. He still plays for his home village of Kozusany, despite a troublesome knee, and has not gained weight since retiring from the professional game. His life now centres on his family, investments and charity work.

In an interview with Flashscore, Rozehnal discussed his work with the Czech Republic Under-20 side, his memories of EURO 2004, and spells with PSG, Newcastle United and Lille.

Helping the next generation

Rozehnal has worked with the current Under-20 group since the players were Under-16s. He supports the coaching staff but does not regard himself as an assistant, even though the players call him that.

“They see me as part of the team. I support them,” he said. “I want them to take confidence, perspective and experience from me.”

The Czech side recently beat Switzerland 5-2 at a tournament in Portugal before losing 2-0 to Poland and 5-0 to Portugal. Rozehnal said the results showed they could compete when fully focused, but believed Portugal’s players were operating at a higher level.

“Some of our players are already playing league football, but the Portuguese were on another level,” he said. “The main work lies with the players and the clubs.”

He said modern football was more demanding and physical than when he was developing, although young players now had better resources available to them. He watches defensive training closely and passes information to the bench at half-time after sitting with the analyst in matches.

Rozehnal also believes Czech football must learn from stronger nations.

“We are still behind, but I see potential,” he said. “We do not know best. There are better coaches in the world. We should learn from them.”

EURO 2004 and the PSG move

Portugal brought back memories of EURO 2004, where Rozehnal won a bronze medal and made a substitute appearance in the 3-2 victory over the Netherlands.

“I was part of a fantastic team and learned from the best,” he said. “It was an invaluable experience.”

The semi-final defeat by Greece still causes frustration.

“It should have been at least a final,” he said of the 1-0 extra-time loss. “Under coach Bruckner, we played attractive, constructive and pressing football. If we had got through that one match, we might have gone on to win the title.”

After winning a trophy in Belgium, Rozehnal joined PSG, despite interest from Dortmund. He played almost every match during his first season, including 60 games before travelling to Germany for the World Cup, and later operated in central midfield.

“From a footballing perspective, I liked Paris the most,” he said. “I felt indestructible.”

The PSG squad included Sylvain Armand, Pedro Pauleta, Vikash Dhorasoo and Jerome Rothen, while Mario Yepes played alongside him in defence. Rozehnal recalled a calmer club before the arrival of the Qatari owners, when PSG and Marseille dominated French football and the Parc des Princes was divided between two loudly competing stands.

He also remembered arriving in an old Golf and parking next to Rothen’s Ferrari.

“The people at the gate were tapping their heads, wondering who I was,” he said.

Pauleta once mentioned a young Cristiano Ronaldo while the pair were in the sauna. Rozehnal later faced Ronaldo at Newcastle United.

“This guy is going to be good!” Pauleta told him. “I realised that at Newcastle, when Ronaldo sped past me for United like he was on a motorbike.”

Rozehnal’s second season in Paris ended with PSG finishing 15th and avoiding relegation four matches before the end. New manager Guy Lacombe moved him into midfield, where he enjoyed seeing more of the ball despite the results.

He was later told he had been named PSG’s player of the season, although he never received the award because he left for Newcastle United.

“I would like to claim it,” he said. “Maybe I will go and collect that trophy one day.”

Lille and Eden Hazard

Rozehnal admitted he regretted leaving PSG for Newcastle, where he struggled, saying his wife Petka had taught him to trust his first instinct.

He remains fond of the modern PSG under Luis Enrique and hopes to visit the club’s new training centre. He also remembers kit man Nacerdine Sekai, known as Didi, and saw him celebrate PSG’s Champions League triumph.

Before that success, Rozehnal was part of the Lille team that beat PSG to a league and cup double. He spent five seasons with Lille, more than at any other club, because of its family atmosphere and the stability it offered his family.

That was also where he played with Eden Hazard and Gervinho.

“Hazard was just coming to the fore,” Rozehnal said. “It was obvious after his first year that he would become one of the best players on the planet.”

He described Hazard as a normal person who never behaved like a star, although he joked that the Belgian could be a “bit of a slacker in training”.

“A game-changer,” Rozehnal added. “I like him very much.”

Rozehnal said Lille valued him even when he was a substitute and that he generally played 20 matches a season, or 25 when cup games were included.

His advice to young players is simple: establish whether they truly love football, understand that progress requires hard work and, above all, remain good people.

“You know perfectly well that you have to work your way up,” he said. “It will not simply fall into your lap.”

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are among the nominees for a special all-time Ballon d’Or award, which will mark the prize’s 70th anniversary in 2026.

The Ballon d’Or was first presented in 1956. To celebrate the milestone, organisers are asking supporters to select the greatest individual Ballon d’Or-winning year in the award’s history.

The competition is separate from this year’s men’s Ballon d’Or, for which Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane are among the favourites.

Fans can vote for their B.O.A.T, although the poll will close at midnight on October 27th. The result is expected to be announced on October 28th.

The main ceremony will be held on October 26th at the London Palladium in London.

Messi has been nominated for eight of his winning years: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, 2021 and 2023.

Ronaldo is included for five years in which he won the award: 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Johan Cruyff’s three nominated years are 1971, 1973 and 1974, while Michel Platini is represented by 1983, 1984 and 1985.

Marco van Basten’s winning years on the list are 1988, 1989 and 1992. Ronaldo Nazario has two nominations, for 1997 and 2002.

The remaining nominees are Franz Beckenbauer, with 1972 and 1976; Alfredo Di Stefano, with 1957 and 1959; Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, with 1980 and 1981; and Kevin Keegan, with 1978 and 1979.

Rennes could be without Ligue 1’s leading scorer Esteban Lepaul for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League meeting with Juventus after he suffered a suspected ankle injury.

The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick in Sunday’s Ligue 1 match against Paris FC, but was forced to leave the field during added time as Rennes pushed for a winning goal.

Rennes manager Franck Haise said Lepaul’s early exit had raised serious doubts over whether he would recover in time for the match against Juventus.

“Knowing him, if he is coming off in added time at 3-3, while we’re in the ascendancy, because he tells me that he can’t continue, I don’t see how, in the very short term, and Thursday is very short term, he can play,” Haise told the media.

“If he couldn’t keep going, I know that it is a real problem.”

Lepaul is due to undergo further medical examinations as Rennes seek to establish the full extent of the injury and how long he may be unavailable.

Lyon moved top of Ligue 1 after holding on to beat Nice 2-1 at home, despite playing the final 20 minutes with 10 men.

The match began cautiously, with both sides involved in a series of strong physical challenges during a cagey opening quarter of an hour. Nice, though, needed only one clear opportunity to break the deadlock.

Elye Wahi supplied the finish in the 18th minute, turning Jonathan Clauss’ precise cross from the right into the net at the first attempt. Lyon responded quickly, with Kail Boudache forcing a strong save from Nice goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf with a powerful strike.

Diouf could not prevent the equaliser in the 32nd minute. Johan Duranville cut inside from the left and sent a low shot towards goal. The effort appeared to be one Diouf should have dealt with, but he spilled the ball at the feet of Pavel Sulc, who reacted smartly to score.

Lyon completed the turnaround only four minutes later. Zachary Athekame delivered an excellent cross and Tanner Tessmann rose above the Nice defence to head Paulo Fonseca’s side in front. Lyon maintained their 2-1 advantage until half-time.

Nice came close to restoring parity seven minutes into the second half when captain Axel Witsel met another dangerous delivery from Clauss with a powerful header. The ball struck the crossbar and bounced away.

Olivier Pantaloni’s team continued to apply pressure, although Mohamed Amoura and Gauthier Hein were unable to seriously test Remy Descamps in the Lyon goal.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute, less than 10 minutes after Keito Nakamura had entered the game. He was shown a straight red card after catching Mohamed Abdelmonem with a high boot.

Nice almost took immediate advantage. Wahi met a cross with a header, but the effort struck the post as the woodwork came to Lyon’s rescue for a second time.

The visitors continued to search for an equaliser in the closing stages, and Wahi appeared to have found it in stoppage time. However, his celebrations ended when the goal was ruled out for the narrowest of offside decisions.

The defeat stops Nice’s mini-revival at two consecutive wins, leaving them 13th in the table. Lyon are one of four teams on 14 points, but their superior goal difference puts them top after a fifth victory in their past six meetings with the side from the Cote d’Azur.

Zachary Athekame was named Flashscore Man of the Match for Lyon.

Lorient secured consecutive Ligue 1 victories for the first time in 21 attempts by beating AS Monaco 1-0 at Stade du Moustoir - Yves Allainmat.

The result prevented Monaco from finishing the weekend at the top of the table, while Lorient climbed six places despite having won only four of their past 11 competitive home matches, drawing three and losing four.

It was a subdued opening, with neither side able to establish control in the final third. There was only one attempt in the first 15 minutes, when Ansu Fati headed over the crossbar.

Possession was evenly shared, but much of the game was played in a crowded midfield. Both teams repeatedly moved the ball sideways or back towards their defence, producing few openings.

Matthis Abline’s attempt from 25 yards, which flew into the crowd, reflected the lack of quality during a disappointing first half.

As Monaco pushed their full-backs forward, they left space for Lorient to attack behind them. Arsene Kouassi found room on several occasions but could not deliver a final ball for a team-mate.

Monaco created their best opportunity of the opening period after Ibrahima Balde used excellent skill to open up the Lorient defence on the half-hour mark. His shot was blocked, however, and three further efforts from the visitors before the break failed to seriously trouble the hosts.

Monaco started the second half with greater urgency and produced three chances within two minutes of the restart. Lorient remained competitive through their physical approach, with Montassar Talbi and Nathaniel Adjei providing a formidable defensive barrier.

The pair had won nine duels between them by the end of the match, helping Lorient withstand sustained pressure and prevent Monaco from finding a way through.

Lorient were awarded a penalty after Flavio Nazhinho clumsily challenged Dembo Sylla just after the hour. Noah Cadiou made no mistake from the spot, sending a confident right-footed effort beyond Lukas Hradecky.

Monaco were forced to take greater risks as they searched for an equaliser and spent much of the closing stages on the front foot. Their finishing remained a problem, though, with only three of their 13 attempts on target with 10 minutes remaining.

Lorient came closest to adding a second goal when Sylla struck the post with an effort from outside the penalty area.

The defeat leaves Monaco fourth in Ligue 1 on 14 points, the same total as each of the three teams above them. Lamine Camara of AS Monaco was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.

Marseille ended a difficult run of form by recovering from an early setback to beat Angers 5-2 at the Stade Raymond-Kopa.

The victory, which followed a record of one win and six defeats, gives L’OM consecutive league wins and lifts them to ninth in Ligue 1. Angers remain 14th after suffering back-to-back losses and could drop into the bottom three, depending on other results.

Marseille made the brighter start and created two promising opportunities in the opening stages. Igor Paixao cut in from the left and went close to scoring his first goal of the season, while Tochukwu Nnadi sent a shot narrowly wide.

However, the visitors fell behind in unfortunate circumstances after 14 minutes. Amine Sbai created the opening with an impressive run on the left, beating his marker before delivering a dangerous cross. Geoffrey Kondogbia attempted to head clear but instead directed the ball into Lilian Rao-Lisoa’s face from close range, with the ball then trickling over the line.

The unexpected goal disrupted Marseille’s momentum, but they recovered before half-time and turned the match around with two headers.

Timothy Weah, who had already made an impact with his defensive work, supplied the equaliser from the right. His cross found Himad Abdelli, who powered a header past his former club’s goalkeeper.

Marseille then completed the turnaround shortly before the interval. Emerson’s corner was met by Nouhoum Kamissoko, who rose highest to head the visitors into a 2-1 lead.

The away side extended that advantage shortly before the hour. Amine Gouiri won a penalty after driving into the Angers area, but Anthony Lopes saved his initial effort. Gouiri reacted quickest to the rebound, though, and put the ball into the net at the second attempt.

Angers were handed an opportunity to respond with 15 minutes remaining. Carlens Arcus was pulled to the ground during a corner, and Amine El Ouazzani converted the resulting penalty calmly beyond Jeffrey de Lange to reduce the deficit to one.

Their hopes of completing a comeback lasted only briefly. Amine Harit restored Marseille’s two-goal advantage with a well-executed curling finish before Paixao added a fifth in similar fashion.

The result helps Marseille recover from a poor beginning to their Ligue 1 campaign, in which they had previously recorded one win and four defeats. Their consecutive victories have moved them into ninth place.

Angers now face the prospect of slipping further down the table after their second successive defeat.

Chelsea are reportedly in “advanced talks” to sign Strasbourg winger Gessime Yassine, continuing the flow of young players between the two clubs.

The 20-year-old Morocco international has impressed for Strasbourg this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in seven appearances across all competitions.

Journalist Ekrem Kunor reports that Chelsea have now opened advanced discussions to bring Yassine to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea and Strasbourg have been part of the BlueCo ownership group, with 14 players moving between the clubs since the Ligue 1 side came under its umbrella.

Valentin Barco and Emanuel Emegha were signed by Chelsea from Strasbourg over the summer, and the Premier League club are now reportedly targeting another of the French club’s young players.

Lille missed the chance to move to the top of Ligue 1 after Olivier Giroud’s penalty secured a 1-1 draw against Stade Brestois at Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The result leaves Les Dogues with one defeat in their opening seven league matches, alongside four wins and two draws. Their unbeaten home run in Ligue 1 has now extended to four matches, while the point moved them above AS Monaco into second place.

Brest began with greater urgency after their 5-1 home victory over Angers last weekend and took the lead after only six minutes.

Joris Chotard’s floated corner caused confusion in the Lille penalty area. Gautier Lloris’ mis-hit effort was diverted by Mama Balde, sending the ball beyond the wrong-footed Orlando Gill and into the net.

The goal was Balde’s second in a week, but it proved to be the only shot on target in a subdued first half. Lille struggled to create a response, while Brest were comfortable protecting their early advantage.

Brest were forced to make a change at half-time, with Balde withdrawn because of an injury. Lille immediately looked more threatening after the interval and came close to an equaliser when Tanguy Nianzou headed wide from six yards after Egil Selvik had kept out Benjamin Andre’s header.

The visitors appeared satisfied to defend their narrow lead, but Lille were given an opportunity to level in the 64th minute.

Bradley Locko caught Ethan Mbappe with a clumsy challenge, leaving referee Clement Turpin with little choice but to award a penalty. Giroud converted from the spot for his first goal since the opening weekend of the season.

The equaliser gave Davide Ancelotti’s side renewed momentum as they pressed for a winner. Brest’s defence remained organised, however, and Selvik produced an acrobatic save to deny Nabil Bentaleb’s free-kick.

Lille could not find a second goal, ensuring the points were shared in northern France.

Brest’s progress under Julien Lachuer continued, with the club having lost only one of their four away matches in the top flight so far in 2026/27.

Brest goalkeeper Egil Selvik was named Flashscore Man of the Match.

Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat RC Strasbourg 3-1 at Stade de la Meinau and move up to second in Ligue 1, with substitutes Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue making the difference after half-time.

Strasbourg had been on course to extend their unbeaten league run to four matches when Giovanni Reyna put them ahead in the 17th minute. Reyna beat Matvey Safonov at his near post with a low finish, despite PSG having created the greater early pressure.

The visitors had already gone close when Ferran Torres’ powerful header was kept out by Filip Jørgensen at point-blank range. At the other end, Maghnes Akliouche missed a remarkable chance for PSG, firing wide with the goal unguarded.

Both teams had recorded six attempts by the half-hour mark, although only three had been on target. Strasbourg also missed another promising opportunity when Fabio Balde pulled his effort across goal from a good position.

The match continued to move quickly from one end to the other, with PSG dominating possession as the interval approached. They had held 78.4% of the ball during the previous 15 minutes, but could not turn that control into an equaliser before half-time.

PSG started the second half on the attack, but Strasbourg’s defence, led in particular by Pape Diop, resisted the sustained pressure.

Safonov then produced an excellent one-handed save to his left to deny Conrad Harder’s header, which appeared destined for the net. The stop helped PSG regain momentum, although Jørgensen continued to keep them out and had still not been beaten after an hour.

Strasbourg threatened to increase their advantage when Gessime Yassine, Harder and Jeyland Mitchell tested Safonov in quick succession. However, with 20 minutes remaining, PSG were awarded a penalty after VAR identified a handball by Diop.

Dembele, introduced from the bench, missed the opportunity when he dragged his attempt wide of Jørgensen’s right-hand post. He quickly recovered from that error, delivering a precise cross for an unmarked Illia Zabarnyi to tap in and level the match.

The current Ballon d’Or winner then completed PSG’s turnaround by driving home a late second goal. Doue added a third in stoppage time with a straightforward finish to secure the points.

The defeat means Strasbourg have still failed to keep a clean sheet in 26 meetings with PSG, a sequence consisting of two wins, six draws and 18 defeats.

PSG now go into their Champions League fixture with Barcelona after making the task considerably harder for themselves at Strasbourg.

Flashscore named Illia Zabarnyi the Man of the Match.
