Irish-Nigerian defender Andrew Omobamidele has joined RSC Anderlecht from French club Strasbourg on loan until 30 June 2027.
The 24-year-old centre-back moves to Belgium after making two Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg this season, starting both matches and completing 180 minutes of league football. He switches to Anderlecht, who compete in the Jupiler Pro League, on 2 September 2026.
Omobamidele joined Strasbourg permanently from Nottingham Forest on 1 July 2025 in a €10.5m transfer. His time with the French club followed an earlier loan spell there during the 2024-25 season, when he moved from Forest on 24 January before returning to England at the end of the campaign.
The defender initially joined Forest from Norwich in September 2023 for €12.85m. He had come through Norwich’s system after moving from Leixlip United to the club’s under-18 side in 2018, later progressing through the development squad and into the senior team.
Omobamidele was part of the Norwich side that won the English second tier in the 2020-21 season. He is 1.88m tall and normally plays at centre-back, with his right foot listed as his preferred foot.
The move gives Anderlecht a defender with experience in English and French football, while Omobamidele begins a temporary spell in Belgium under a contract running through the end of the 2026-27 season. His loan is scheduled to conclude on 30 June 2027, when he is due to return to Strasbourg.
