Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick are understood to have differing priorities ahead of the January transfer window.

Journalist Juan Jesus reports that Flick is satisfied with his current options at right-back, where Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia have been used. Deco, however, believes Barcelona need to strengthen that position.

Pedro Porro of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool’s Jeremie Frimpong are currently on the sporting director’s shortlist, according to the report.

Flick is instead said to favour the signing of a new central defender in January. Discussions between the two sides are continuing, but they have so far been unable to reach an agreement.

Barcelona lead La Liga after eight matches, having taken the maximum 24 points.
