Gattuso targets Lazio’s return sharpness after international break

Lazio head coach Gennaro Gattuso is concerned that the international break could disrupt his side’s strong start to the Serie A season.

Lazio have taken 13 points from their opening five matches and currently sit third in the table. However, with their next league fixture not until 11 October, Gattuso believes the extended gap between games could affect the team’s intensity.

“When you don't play for 20 days, adrenaline drops,” Gattuso said.

The manager also praised the players who have helped Lazio make such a successful start to the campaign, with the club occupying a Champions League position after five rounds.

Lazio will return to Serie A action against Monza on 11 October.
