Real head coach Jose Mourinho is considering starting both Denzel Dumfries and Federico Valverde in Sunday’s El Clasico against Barcelona, according to The Touchline, citing Spanish newspaper Marca.

Barcelona will host Real in La Liga, with Mourinho reportedly weighing up a line-up that includes two recognised right-backs from the first whistle. Dumfries and Valverde could both be selected to start at Camp Nou.

The proposed approach would involve a specific “double right-back” system, with the aim of giving Valverde more space to influence the game.

Mourinho has previously used an unusually defensive structure during his time in charge of Manchester United. On occasions, his side switched to a system featuring six defenders.

Barcelona and Real are scheduled to kick off at Camp Nou on 25 October at 23:00 Moscow time.
