Although the Super Eagles are not among the African nations participating at next month’s FIFA Club World Cup, victory over Jamaica would hand Éric Chelle’s side another international title and continue Nigeria’s dominance in the invitational competition.

However, preparations for the final have been affected by the delayed arrival of captain Wilfred Ndidi, vice-captain Moses Simon and striker Akor Adams, who were still absent from camp as of Thursday night.

The trio missed training at Cray Valley and are expected to join the squad ahead of the team’s official session at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic F.C..

Nigeria head into the final full of confidence after an under-strength side defeated Zimbabwe national football team 2-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday.

The victory further strengthened Chelle’s belief in the quality of the experimental squad assembled for the tournament.

Much attention will again focus on Femi Azeez after the Millwall winger scored both goals against Zimbabwe on his Super Eagles debut.

The 24-year-old has already generated excitement among supporters and observers, with many tipping him as a strong attacking option for the national team going forward.

Nigeria and Jamaica also met in the 2025 Unity Cup final, where the match ended 2-2 before the Super Eagles triumphed 5-4 on penalties to retain the title they previously won in 2002 and 2004.

The first edition of the competition in 2002 saw Nigeria defeat Jamaica 1-0 through a goal from former U-17 captain James Obiorah.

In 2004, Nigeria again emerged champions, with Bartholomew Ogbeche finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, while Obafemi Martins also announced himself by scoring on his senior debut for the Super Eagles.

Chelle is expected to continue experimenting with his squad in Saturday’s final, with Arthur Okonkwo likely to retain his place in goal after keeping a clean sheet against Zimbabwe.

The defensive quartet of Chibueze Oputa, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Igoh Ogbu and Obinna Igbokwe are also expected to keep their spots following an impressive display in the semi-final.

In midfield, Tochukwu Nnadi could again combine with Alhassan Yusuf and Samson Tijani, while Terem Moffi, Philip Otele and Azeez are likely to lead the attack.

Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, midfielder Tosin Oyedokun and forwards Owen Oseni and Rafiu Durosinmi are also available after making encouraging contributions off the bench against Zimbabwe.
