The Abia State Government has commenced the reconstruction of the Umuahia Township Stadium as part of efforts to improve sports infrastructure and facilities across the state, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The development comes ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, with Abia Warriors set to temporarily move away from their traditional home ground.
The Umuahia-based club have adopted Elephant Park in Aba as their temporary home venue for the upcoming NPFL campaign.
The stadium is expected to undergo extensive rehabilitation aimed at upgrading its facilities and creating a more suitable environment for football and other sporting activities upon completion.
Abia Warriors will therefore play their home matches at Elephant Park, Aba, while reconstruction work continues at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
