Andre Onana and members of his family have avoided serious injury after a road accident near Trabzon in Turkey.

The Cameroon international goalkeeper was involved in the collision in Yomra on Thursday evening, shortly after returning from Trabzonspor’s 2-0 victory over Scottish club Hearts in the Conference League.

Onana was taken to hospital as a precaution, but medical examinations found no serious injuries. The Trabzonspor goalkeeper was subsequently allowed to return home.

According to reports in the Turkish media, the vehicle carrying Onana and his family was hit from behind before striking another car. The impact resulted in a chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan provided reassurance about Onana’s condition after the incident. The tests carried out at hospital did not identify any significant injury.

The accident happened only a few hours after Onana had helped Trabzonspor secure victory without conceding a goal against Hearts.

Attention will now turn to whether the incident affects the goalkeeper’s availability for Trabzonspor’s next fixtures. There has been no confirmed information to indicate that Onana will miss the club’s next match.
