Andre Onana was taken to hospital after being involved in a car accident following Trabzonspor’s Conference League victory over Hearts.
The Cameroon goalkeeper was travelling home with his family when another vehicle hit his car from behind. The impact reportedly sent Onana’s vehicle into the car in front, resulting in a chain collision.
Onana was taken to hospital immediately after the incident but was discharged a short time later. The accident was reported by Turkish and English media and subsequently confirmed by Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan.
“There is nothing serious, nothing critical. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Dogan told Turkish broadcaster TRT Sport.
The reports said the car that struck Onana’s vehicle was travelling at high speed. The force of the collision caused his car to hit the vehicle ahead of it.
Trabzonspor had beaten Scottish side Hearts 2-0 on Thursday evening in the Conference League, with Mohamed Salah and Franculino Dju scoring the goals.
Onana is spending a second consecutive season on loan at Trabzonspor and has made 45 appearances for the club so far.
His availability for Monday evening’s league match against Rizespor remains uncertain.
