Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has presented her former grassroots coach, Emmanuel Osahon Orobosa, with a brand-new Toyota Highlander as a gesture of appreciation for his role in launching her football career.

FC Robo International confirmed the gift and praised Oshoala for remembering the mentor who supported her when she was starting out in 2009.

Orobosa, founder and head coach of FC Robo, helped provide a safe environment and tactical guidance for Oshoala during a difficult period, when she was seeking her family’s approval to pursue professional football.

In a statement, FC Robo said the presentation reflected Oshoala’s gratitude towards those who had supported her early progress.

“Your presentation of a Toyota Highlander to Coach Osahon is a beautiful demonstration of gratitude and a reminder that you have not forgotten the people who played important roles in your journey,” the club said.

The latest gift is not the first time Oshoala has supported FC Robo. Shortly after beginning her move into European football, she donated a bus to the club.

Oshoala is now regarded as one of Africa’s most decorated footballers, but her latest gesture highlights the contribution of grassroots coaches to the development of future stars on the continent.

It also underlines her continuing connection with the club and the coach who helped guide her first steps in the game.
