Brighton made Premier League history in their 5-0 victory over newcomers Coventry City by fielding players representing 15 different nationalities in a single team.
The milestone, highlighted by English Accent citing the Premier League press service, marked the first time a Premier League side had used a line-up featuring players from 15 national backgrounds.
Brighton’s squad for the match included two Dutch players, as well as a Turkey international, a Frenchman, a Croatian, an Englishman, a Swede, a German, an Ivorian, a Paraguayan, a Belgian, a Greek, a Spaniard, a Ghanaian, a Portuguese player and a Dane.
Fabian Hurzeler has therefore assembled one of the most internationally diverse squads in Premier League history.
Brighton’s 5-0 win over Coventry City came during the fourth round of the Premier League season. The result left the Seagulls fourth in the table with seven points.
Brighton will return to action on Saturday, 19 September, when they host reigning English champions Arsenal.
