Declan Rice left out of England squad as Arsenal midfielder is given a break

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice will not play for England during the upcoming international break after being left out of the squad to give him a rest.

Rice is one of the key players in the England team and featured in all eight of the side’s matches at last summer’s World Cup.

The midfielder has also been a regular starter for Arsenal since August, playing in both Premier League and Champions League fixtures. The Athletic reported that rest was the reason for his omission.

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer is also expected to miss the international fixtures. However, Palmer was not part of England’s squad for the World Cup in North America.

England will face Spain, Croatia and Czechia twice across September and October in the UEFA Nations League.
