El-Kanemi Warriors have confirmed the appointment of King Emmanuel as the club's new technical adviser ahead of the 2026/27 season, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Friday at the Colonel Abdulmumin Aminu Camp in Maiduguri, where Emmanuel was officially presented as the man to lead the club into a crucial campaign. He succeeds Kabiru Dogo, who left the Borno-based side after guiding them to victory in the 2026 President Federation Cup before taking over as head coach of Niger Tornadoes.
Despite their Federation Cup triumph, El-Kanemi Warriors were relegated from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season and will compete in the Nigeria National League (NNL) during the upcoming campaign.
The club's hierarchy has handed Emmanuel the responsibility of securing an immediate return to the NPFL while also leading the Desert Warriors in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking during his unveiling, Emmanuel expressed gratitude to the Borno State Government for the opportunity and pledged to justify the confidence placed in him.
"I sincerely thank the Government of Borno State under the leadership of His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, and the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Saina Buba, for entrusting me with this responsibility.
"I also want to assure the supporters of El-Kanemi Warriors FC across the world that we will work tirelessly to return the club to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.
"We will also give our very best in the CAF Confederation Cup despite the challenges of the competition. With the support and prayers of the good people of Borno State and our fans worldwide, I am confident we will achieve our goals."
El-Kanemi Warriors qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after winning the President Federation Cup and will be hoping to make a strong impact in continental competition under Emmanuel's leadership while pursuing an immediate return to the NPFL.
