Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has celebrated his remarkable scoring run in Turkey by sharing a photograph of himself wearing traditional Turkish attire, accompanied by a new nickname, “Agabey”, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Bursaspor striker posted the picture on Instagram after scoring twice and providing an assist in his side’s 3-0 victory over Muglaspor in the Turkish 1. Lig on Thursday.
“We go ball till eternity, Kelechi Agabey,” Iheanacho wrote in the caption.
The Turkish word “Agabey” is a respectful form of address meaning “big brother” and is also used to refer to a respected or influential figure.
The 30-year-old has continued to make headlines with his extraordinary consistency in front of goal, scoring in 10 consecutive league appearances for Bursaspor. The achievement makes him the first player to score in 10 successive matches in Turkish professional league football.
His scoring streak has also extended to 11 consecutive matches when his appearance for the Super Eagles is included. Since joining Bursaspor from Celtic, Iheanacho has recorded 14 goals and three assists.
Against Muglaspor, the Nigerian initially thought he had opened the scoring in the 51st minute, only for a VAR review to rule out the effort for offside.
He responded seven minutes later by putting Bursaspor ahead before doubling the advantage in the 79th minute. Four minutes afterwards, he turned provider, setting up substitute Hüseyin Maldar to complete the 3-0 victory.

The result moved Bursaspor into second place in the Turkish 1. Lig with 22 points, two ahead of third-placed I?d?r FK and three behind leaders Kayserispor.
Second place currently represents one of the league’s two automatic promotion spots to the Turkish Super Lig, giving Bursaspor further incentive to maintain their momentum.
Iheanacho and his teammates will next host Pendikspor on Monday as they look to continue their push for promotion.
