Stephen Nene, the 20-year-old Italy-Nigeria midfielder, has left Renate and is now without a club following his departure from the Serie C side.
Nene’s exit was recorded on 31 August 2026, ending his time with Renate after just over a year. He joined the Italian club from Monza’s Under-20 team on 17 July 2025, making that move on a free transfer.
The right midfielder was included in Renate’s squad for the 2026-27 campaign but did not make an appearance in either Serie C - Girone A or the Coppa Italia Serie C before departing. His move away comes at the start of the season, with the club having played one match in each competition.
Nene is listed primarily as a right-sided midfielder and is naturally right-footed. He stands 1.78m tall and has represented both Italian and Nigerian football identities through his nationality. His listed market value at the time of his departure was €150,000.
Before joining Renate, Nene spent time in Monza’s youth system. He moved from Monza Under-17s to the club’s Under-19 side in July 2023, before progressing to the Under-20 team and transferring to Renate two years later.
His departure leaves the player unattached after a spell in Italy’s professional league structure. Nene’s current record with Renate includes no appearances or goals in the competitions recorded for the 2026-27 season.
The midfielder’s last completed club move came in July 2025, when he switched from Monza Under-20s to Renate without a transfer fee. He now leaves the club, with no new team attached to his registration.
