Jonas David linked with MSV Duisburg move

German-Nigerian defender Jonas David, currently without a club, has been linked with a move to MSV Duisburg in Germany’s 3. Liga.

David, 26, is a right-footed centre-back who most recently played for SSV Ulm 1846. He left the club on 1 July 2026, having joined from Austrian side WSG Tirol in August 2025 in a free transfer.

The defender has made 14 appearances in the 3. Liga and 68 in the 2. Bundesliga during his career. He has also played 17 times in the Bundesliga, scoring twice and registering three assists.

David began his senior career with Hamburg, where he progressed through the club’s academy before making his first-team debut. He later spent time on loan at Wurzburger Kickers and Hansa Rostock, returning to Hamburg between those spells.

His move to Hansa Rostock in August 2023 was a loan deal, while his subsequent return to Hamburg was recorded as the end of that loan. David left Hamburg in September 2024 and joined WSG Tirol later that year before moving to Ulm.

There is no confirmed agreement between David and Duisburg, but the defender’s availability makes him a potential option for the 3. Liga club. He remains unattached after his departure from Ulm.
