Ademola Lookman says Nigeria are determined to begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with victories over Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The Super Eagles will host Madagascar’s Barea at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Thursday, before travelling to Bissau for their Matchday Two fixture against Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus on Tuesday, September 29.
Eric Chelle’s side are aiming to make a strong start as they pursue qualification for the tournament. Nigeria are three-time African champions.
Lookman accepts that both opponents will provide a significant test, but says the Super Eagles are focused on collecting maximum points from their opening two matches.
“The whole team is really looking forward to it. Two very important matches are coming up, and the opponents are, of course, tough to face,” Lookman said in an interview with Sporty TV, as quoted by Football App.
“But we’re eager to win both of these games. We know the matches will be difficult, but we’ll do everything we can to achieve it.”
