Madagascar’s Barea have arrived in Uyo ahead of their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The delegation, made up of 28 players and officials, touched down at the Victor Attah International Airport at around 2:05 p.m. on Monday before heading to their hotel after completing the necessary immigration procedures.
More members of the Madagascar delegation are expected to join the team in Uyo on Tuesday as preparations continue for the important Group L encounter.
Corentin Martins’ side will face Nigeria at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday in their opening qualifier before returning home to host Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their second fixture four days later.
The Barea will be hoping to draw confidence from their previous meeting with the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Madagascar recorded a memorable 2-0 victory over Nigeria in their final group-stage match at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Nigeria will therefore be looking to avoid another setback against Madagascar as Eric Chelle begins his side’s qualification campaign for the 2027 tournament.
