Nigerian centre-forward Micheal Stephen has joined Iraqi club Al-Fahad from Kyrgyzstan side Toktogul.
The move was completed on 8 September, bringing the 26-year-old to a new country after his spell with Toktogul. Stephen’s arrival gives Al-Fahad a forward who operates as a centre-forward and adds an international dimension to the club’s squad.
Stephen previously played in Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Liga with Toktogul. His move to Al-Fahad represents a switch from the Kyrgyz football system to a club based in Iraq, marking the next stage of his career outside Nigeria.
The Nigerian striker’s position places him at the focal point of Al-Fahad’s attacking options. As a centre-forward, Stephen is expected to be used in the central role he has occupied during his career, although no further details of his responsibilities at the new club have been announced.
Al-Fahad have not disclosed the financial terms of the transfer. The club’s move for Stephen was completed without a contract length being announced, while the Iraqi side’s league competition has not been specified.
For Toktogul, Stephen’s departure brings an end to his time in the Jogorku Liga. For the player, the transfer means a change of footballing environment and a move from Kyrgyzstan to Iraq at the age of 26.
Stephen is now an Al-Fahad player after completing his move from Toktogul on 8 September.
