NFF Delegation Visits Ndidi Ahead of Father’s Burial

A delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday paid a condolence visit to Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi in Asaba, Delta State, ahead of the funeral rites of his late father scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, in Umunede, Delta State, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The delegation was led by NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, who presented a formal letter of condolence to the Be?ikta? midfielder, conveying the heartfelt sympathy of the entire Nigerian football community over the passing of his father, Mr. Sunday Ndidi.

Dr. Sanusi described the news as “very sad,” noting that the loss was particularly painful coming shortly after Ndidi had given his all for the nation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. He assured the Super Eagles captain of the federation’s solidarity and prayers during this difficult period.

Members of the delegation included NFF Executive Committee Member, Rt. Hon. Nse Essien, Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Hon. Godwin Adode, NFF Director of Media and Communications, Dr. Ademola Olajire, and other officials of the Delta State FA.

Mr. Sunday Ndidi, a retired military officer, reportedly died in a road accident in Delta State. The NFF, alongside the National Sports Commission (NSC), pledged continued support for Ndidi and his family as they mourn their loss.

Ndidi’s Turkish club, Be?ikta?, also expressed deep sadness and extended its condolences to the midfielder and his family during this trying time.

The federation concluded by offering prayers for comfort and strength to Ndidi, his siblings, and the entire family as they prepare to lay their patriarch to rest.
