Nice Confirm Terem Moffi Will Leave Club This Summer

OGC Nice sporting director Roger Ricort has confirmed that Nigerian striker Terem Moffi is expected to leave the Ligue 1 club on a permanent transfer before the close of the summer transfer window, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Moffi spent the second half of last season on loan at Portuguese champions FC Porto after falling down the pecking order at Nice.

The Super Eagles forward pushed for a move away from the French club following an incident in November, when he and teammate Jeremie Boga were confronted by angry supporters after a defeat to Lorient.

While Boga later completed a permanent move to Serie A giants Juventus after an initial loan spell, Porto opted not to activate the €8 million purchase option included in Moffi's loan agreement, resulting in the striker's return to Nice.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, the 27-year-old resumed pre-season training with the Ligue 1 side on Wednesday.

Ricort has now confirmed that the club no longer considers Moffi part of its plans and expects him to secure a permanent move elsewhere before the transfer window closes.

"He is on the list of players we want to leave. He will surely be transferred elsewhere," Ricort told GFFN.

"We don't necessarily respect the man, but we will respect the player. At the moment, he knows that he won't be able to play for Nice any more, either."

"I think that would show a lack of respect to our supporters, but so long as he is here, we will try and be proper with him and his agents. When he finds a club, we will shake hands and wish each other good luck."

The former Lorient striker is now expected to attract interest from clubs seeking an experienced forward as he looks to begin the next chapter of his career away from the Allianz Riviera.
