The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced October 31, 2026, as the proposed date for the opening match of the 2026/27 season, NigeriaSoccernet.com reports.
The second-tier league released its proposed calendar in a circular dated September 2, outlining the activities and deadlines leading up to the new campaign.
Stadium inspections for participating clubs are scheduled to hold from September 7 to 19, while club and player registration will open on September 14 and close on October 23.
The collection of player licences is fixed for October 24 to 30, leaving clubs with just one day before the proposed opening fixture on October 31.
Although the opening match is scheduled for October 31, the full league programme is expected to get underway on November 7.
The 2026/27 NNL season is expected to run until April 2027, with the campaign set to conclude with the Super 4 Tournament scheduled for April 14 to 18.
With the calendar now released, clubs are expected to intensify preparations and ensure they meet the league’s registration, licensing and stadium requirements ahead of the new season.
The announcement officially sets the countdown in motion for another competitive NNL campaign, with clubs set to battle for promotion, survival and success across the season.
