Plateau United coach Gbenga Ogunbote has attributed his team's failure to secure maximum points against Warri Wolves to anxiety and poor decision-making in front of goal during their 1-1 draw in Sunday's NPFL Matchday 11 encounter, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Peace Boys struggled to convert their chances at the New Jos Stadium, with Ogunbote admitting that his players allowed the pressure to affect their performance.
“There was a lot of anxiety from my boys. They were just trying everything hurriedly to make sure we scored. Unfortunately, we were getting everything wrong. It’s another disappointing home draw for us,” Ogunbote said during his post-match media interaction.
Warri Wolves took the lead in the 24th minute through Emmanuel Aribogha, putting the hosts under pressure in front of their home supporters.
However, substitute Samuel Ayanrinde came to Plateau United's rescue in the 60th minute, finding the equaliser to bring the contest level.
Despite their efforts in search of a winner, the Jos-based side could not break down the visitors' defence and had to settle for a share of the points.
The draw extends Plateau United's disappointing run, having managed just one point from their last two league matches. They previously suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Sporting Lagos before surrendering a two-goal advantage in a 2-2 draw against Katsina United.
Ogunbote's men had entered Sunday's fixture hoping to secure their first home win in two attempts and their second victory in five league outings, but another frustrating result left them short of their target.
The Peace Boys currently occupy sixth position on the NPFL table with 16 points from 11 matches.
They will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Nasarawa United in Lafia, where they will be looking to end their winless run and get their campaign back on track.
