Nigeria midfielder Samson Tijani has joined Slovakian club Podbrezova on loan from Dukla Prague, completing a move that will keep him with the Nike Liga side until 30 June 2027.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder moves after one season with Dukla, whom he joined from Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg on a free transfer in July 2025. Tijani’s switch to Podbrezova was completed on 5 September 2026.
Tijani has already made three appearances for his new club this season, featuring twice in the Chance Narodni Liga and once in the MOL Cup. He has not scored or provided an assist in those matches.
Born in Enugu, Nigeria, Tijani began his senior career with FDC Vista before moving to Collins Edwin and then Salzburg in 2020. He spent time on loan at TSV Hartberg, FC Liefering, Wolfsberger AC and Fredrikstad FK during his Salzburg career.
His spell in Norway brought a major honour, with Tijani helping Fredrikstad FK win the Norwegian Cup in 2024. He also won the Austrian league and cup double with Salzburg during the 2021-22 season.
Tijani’s move to Podbrezova is his latest temporary switch after a career that has included several loan spells. He returns to a Slovak-based setup after leaving Salzburg for Dukla Prague last year, and his current agreement means he will remain with Podbrezova through the 2026-27 campaign.
The right-footed midfielder is valued at €375,000 and will now continue his career in Slovakia, with the loan scheduled to conclude on 30 June 2027.
