Wayne Rooney believes Manchester United’s hierarchy should continue to back Michael Carrick, saying his former club team-mate has already demonstrated that he can produce results with the current squad.
Carrick must now find a way to maximise the players available to him and perhaps get even more from them so Manchester United can climb the table after the international break, Rooney said.
“He has proved that he can achieve results with this squad. He needs to find a way to get the maximum and even more out of the players to move up the league after the international break,” Rooney said, as quoted by derbyderbyderby.it.
“I am sure he would have preferred to be more active in the transfer market, but he had to make do with what was available to him.”
Manchester United finished last season in third place.
