Sporting Lagos name four nominees for October Player of the Month

Sporting Lagos have announced a four-player shortlist for their October Player of the Month award.

Victor Clifford, Jacob Aondona, Aliyu Baba and Gafar Olaniyan were named as nominees by the club in a post on their official X handle on Tuesday.

The four players played important roles as Sporting Lagos found greater stability in the NPFL following a mixed campaign in September.

The Tech Boys went unbeaten in their three fixtures during October, recording two victories and a draw.

Clifford has been a consistent influence in midfield, helping to control matches and supplying the assist for Sporting Lagos’ winning goal against Plateau United.

Aondona has also made a significant contribution in attack. He scored twice during the month, including the equaliser in the draw against Kano Pillars.

Baba was a major creative threat from the flank and created more chances than any other Sporting Lagos player in October.

Olaniyan, meanwhile, impressed with his defensive performances and was described by the club as a dependable presence at the back.

Supporters will choose the winner through a poll on Sporting Lagos’ official X account and the club’s website. The result will be announced before the team’s Matchday 12 fixture this weekend.

Defender Sodiq Ayoade Yusuf won the September award after appearing in every match for Sporting Lagos during that month.

The club’s October shortlist comes as the Lagos side look to build on their improved results and maintain their progress in the NPFL.
