Taiwo Awoniyi earns postgraduate diploma with Merit from PFA Business School

Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi has completed a postgraduate diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit at the PFA Business School, Completesports.com reports.

The qualification represents a significant achievement for the 29-year-old away from football, as he continues to develop his knowledge of the sport while pursuing his playing career.

Awoniyi described the award as an important moment in his personal development and shared his reaction on Instagram.

“Another proud moment for me off the pitch,” Awoniyi wrote.

“Graduating from the PFA Business School with a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Football Sport Directorship with Merit.

“I have always believed that being a footballer shouldn’t stop you from being a student of the game, and education has become an important part of that journey for me.

“Still playing. Still learning. The journey continues.”

Awoniyi’s career so far

Awoniyi started his professional career with Imperial Academy in Nigeria before moving to Liverpool in 2015.

He subsequently played for a number of clubs in Europe, including Union Berlin and Nottingham Forest, and has also represented Nigeria at senior international level.

The forward is now with Premier League club Coventry City, having completed his move from Nottingham Forest in August 2026.

His latest achievement adds an academic qualification to a career that has taken him from Nigerian football to the European game and international football.

Awoniyi’s studies focused on global football sport directorship, broadening his experience beyond his role as a player.

The striker’s message underlined his intention to continue learning alongside his playing commitments, with the qualification awarded with Merit by the PFA Business School.
