Twenty players have reported to Nigeria’s Super Eagles camp in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, as preparations begin for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The squad assembled on Monday at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, where head coach Eric Chelle, his assistants and other members of the backroom team were also present.
Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi, winger Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali were expected to join the group later on Monday.
The Super Eagles are due to hold their first training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday evening. The opening 15 minutes will be accessible to members of the media and the public.
Nigeria begin their qualifying campaign at home against Madagascar’s Barea on Friday. They will then travel to Bissau for a meeting with Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus next Tuesday.
Chelle’s side will be seeking a positive start as they attempt to qualify for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
