Ajax defender Dies Janse says training against Nigeria forward Tolu Arokodare is helping accelerate his development, describing the on-loan striker as a “beast”.
Arokodare joined Ajax during the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from English club Wolves. The Super Eagles player moved to the Dutch side looking to revive his career after a difficult spell in England and regain the form that made him one of Belgium’s most exciting forwards.
Janse believes the opportunity to work alongside high-calibre players at Ajax is providing young members of the squad with valuable experience. He told fcupdate that the club’s demanding training environment had given him the chance to improve in several areas of his game.
“The training level at Ajax is very high. Guests have joined where I can learn a lot from. So I’m in a good place to develop myself further,” Janse said.
The defender particularly highlighted the benefits of facing Arokodare in training, saying the physical challenge was helping him become stronger and improve his ability to turn with the ball.
“Actually, there is something to be gained in every area: physically, turning and turning and getting stronger. Well, if I can stand against Tolu, that’s only good. That’s really a beast,” he added.
Janse said the arrival of players such as Arokodare was beneficial because it allowed Ajax’s younger players to learn on a daily basis.
“And that’s why it’s nice that those kinds of guests are added. You learn from that every day,” he concluded.
