Former Flying Eagles forward John Owoeri has extended his playing career in Asia after completing a move to Bhutan Premier League side Thimphu FC, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 39-year-old striker signed a one-year contract with the Bhutanese club following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign with Thai Division 3 outfit Funtera United.
Owoeri continues to defy age as he embarks on another chapter of a professional career that has taken him across several countries and leagues.
The experienced forward was part of Nigeria's Flying Eagles squad that finished runners-up at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands, where the team narrowly lost to Argentina in the final.
During that memorable tournament, Owoeri played alongside several future Super Eagles stars, including John Obi Mikel and Chinedu Obasi, who both went on to enjoy successful careers in Europe and with the Nigerian national team.
Despite approaching his 40th birthday, the veteran striker remains committed to professional football and will now be aiming to use his wealth of experience to make a significant contribution to Thimphu FC in the Bhutan Premier League.
