Super Eagles striker Gift Orban has been backed to win the Turkish Super Lig Player of the Week award after scoring a hat-trick in Amedspor’s 5-0 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir.

The forward has now scored six goals in five games since joining Amedspor on loan from Hellas Verona, having quickly become a key attacking threat for the club.

Turkish football pundit Sergen Yalc?n said Orban was the obvious choice for the award during an appearance on HT Spor.

“The player of the week is clear: Amed's centre forward Gift Orban. Good player, very physically strong and also a good athletic player, scored 3 goals too. Undoubtedly the player of the week, one hundred percent,” Yalc?n said.

Orban failed to score in his first two matches for Amedspor but has since found the net in each of his last three appearances.

He scored in the 2-1 win over Trabzonspor before claiming two goals in a 2-2 draw against Kasimpasa. His latest contribution came against Istanbul Basaksehir, when he struck three times in the 5-0 victory.

The Nigerian also has a notable record against Istanbul Basaksehir from his time in European competition.

In 2023, Orban scored a hat-trick against the Istanbul club in the Europa Conference League. It was the fastest hat-trick in European competition history, taking just 2 minutes and 50 seconds.
