Wilfred Ndidi and Samuel Chukwueze have joined the Super Eagles camp in Uyo, taking the number of players available to head coach Eric Chelle to 23 ahead of Friday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The two players arrived at Victor Attah International Airport at around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday aboard an Ibom Air flight from Lagos before making their way to the team’s camp.
Their arrival came shortly after goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali reported for duty, bringing the number of players in camp to 23 as Nigeria intensify preparations for their opening Group L fixture.
The first group of 20 players to arrive included Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi, Isaac James, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Fredrick, Moses Usor, George Ilenikhena, Arthur Okonkwo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Tolu Arokodare, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika and Frank Onyeka.
Chelle now has almost his entire squad available as preparations continue in Uyo, with the technical crew expected to use the remaining sessions to work on the team's tactical approach for the Madagascar clash.
Nigeria's squad was reshuffled after Victor Osimhen was ruled out through injury. Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently recalled to replace the Galatasaray forward.
Awoniyi has already linked up with the squad and provides another attacking option alongside Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare and George Ilenikhena.
The Super Eagles will host Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Friday, September 25, before travelling to Bissau for their second Group L qualifier against Guinea-Bissau on September 29.
After missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria will now turn their attention to securing a place at the 2027 AFCON and will be hoping to begin the qualifying campaign with a strong result on home soil.
With 23 players now in camp, Chelle and his technical team have the bulk of the squad available as they fine-tune their plans for the opening qualifier.
