Tolu Arokodare Scores Again as Ajax Draw With Excelsior

Published on: 20 September 2026

Tolu Arokodare continued his impressive start to life at Ajax by finding the net in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Excelsior Rotterdam, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria international was introduced from the bench and needed just two minutes to make an impact, scoring to help Ajax avoid defeat in an entertaining encounter.

Julian Brandt also got on the scoresheet for the Amsterdam club, while Lennard Hartjes and Aymen Sliti were on target for Excelsior as both sides shared the points.

Arokodare’s latest goal further underlines the form that earned him a recall to the Super Eagles for the first time in 10 months.

The striker has quickly established himself as a popular figure among Ajax supporters since arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan.

His performances have also strengthened his case for regular involvement with the Dutch giants, having now scored six goals in nine appearances for the club.

Arokodare is expected to be involved when Nigeria begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign during the international break.

The Super Eagles will face Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, with the Ajax forward now providing another attacking option for head coach Eric Chelle.

His latest contribution will give the Nigerian striker further confidence as he prepares to link up with the national team.
