Benin came from behind to draw 1-1 with Burkina Faso in their opening Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifying match in Group F on Friday.
Burkina Faso took control of the contest in the 20th minute when Lassina Traore converted a penalty to put the Etalons ahead. They held that advantage through to half-time.
Benin, known as the Guepards, stayed in the game and were rewarded with a penalty of their own after the break. Aiyegun Tosin made no mistake from the spot in the 68th minute, bringing the sides level.
Neither team could find a winner as the match ended in a share of the points, leaving both selections searching for their first victory of the qualifying campaign.
Benin will next face Mauritania on 29 September, while Burkina Faso travel to play Centrafrique on 28 September.
