Samuel Chukwueze’s impressive start to the 2026/27 season has reportedly convinced AC Milan to consider extending his contract, with the Serie A giants preparing to open discussions over a new deal for the Nigerian international, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The 27-year-old has started all three of Milan’s opening league matches and has already provided two assists after being given a new role as a right-sided wing-back by manager Ruben Amorim.
Chukwueze registered his first assist of the campaign when he set up Adrien Rabiot in the victory over Torino before creating Alphadjo Cisse’s goal against Juventus last weekend.
Beyond his attacking contribution, the Nigerian has also impressed with his defensive work in a position that is relatively unfamiliar to him.
According to Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Milan are now ready to enter negotiations with Chukwueze’s representatives over a contract extension that could keep him at the San Siro until 2031.
The former Villarreal winger's current agreement runs until June 2028, although formal negotiations over a renewal have yet to begin.
Chukwueze has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter since moving to Milan from Villarreal in July 2023, with inconsistent performances and limited playing time previously leading to speculation that he could leave the club.
His early-season form under Amorim, however, appears to have significantly changed the situation.
The Milan manager has spoken positively about the Nigerian since taking charge, while Chukwueze has responded with a series of encouraging displays in his new role.
For now, the Super Eagles star will remain focused on maintaining his form on the pitch as he looks to build on what has arguably been his strongest start to a season since moving to Italy.
