Adarabioyo emerges as Tottenham’s late-window defensive option

Published on: 31 August 2026

Tottenham are exploring a possible move for Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo as they assess their options in defence before the transfer window closes.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the England international of Nigerian heritage is among the players being considered by Ange Postecoglou’s side. The potential move is understood to be connected to the uncertain future of Kevin Danso, who could leave Tottenham before the end of the window.

Tottenham’s directors discussed the possibility of signing Adarabioyo on Monday, with the deal described as a realistic option rather than a distant alternative. However, the club may only step up their pursuit if Danso departs.

Should the Austria international move on, Tottenham could accelerate their efforts to recruit a replacement. No decision has yet been confirmed over Danso’s future, but the situation has prompted the London club to prepare for a possible change at centre-back.

Adarabioyo has been with Chelsea since July 2024 and has a contract with the club until 30 June 2028. At 28, he would offer Tottenham extensive experience of English football, having developed at Manchester City before spending time with West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.

His familiarity with the Premier League is considered one of the qualities that could make him an attractive option for Tottenham. The central defender is also of Nigerian heritage, although he represents England at international level.

Adarabioyo’s estimated market value is €16m. His annual salary in London is reported to be €7,508,017, equivalent to 4,880,211,050 FCFA.

Tottenham’s interest comes with the transfer deadline approaching and with the club potentially needing to act quickly if Danso leaves. The London side are therefore assessing whether Adarabioyo could provide the defensive cover required for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are preparing to face Arsenal in their third match of the English league season. Betting company 1xbet lists Chelsea at odds of 4.60 to win, with a draw priced at 3.60 and an Arsenal victory at 1.62.
