Four African players feature among the 12 highest-rated performers in Ligue 1 after the opening seven rounds of the 2026/27 season, according to ratings published by French newspaper L’Equipe.
Mali forward Lassine Sinayoko leads the group with an average score of 6.43, followed by Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara on 6.29, Algeria’s Adil Bourabaa on 6.20 and Tunisia defender Montassar Talbi on 6.00 out of 10.
Their contributions have varied across the pitch, from decisive attacking displays to control in midfield and defensive consistency.
Sinayoko inspires Paris FC
Sinayoko produced the standout performance of the four in matchweek seven, playing a direct role in all four of Paris FC’s goals during a 4-3 victory over Rennes on 18 October.
The Mali international supplied Maxime Lopez with two assists before scoring an acrobatic goal of his own. He then converted the winning penalty in stoppage time to complete a remarkable individual display and underline his importance to the Paris FC attack.
Camara central to Monaco’s midfield
Camara has been a constant presence for AS Monaco, starting all seven of the club’s league matches so far.
The Senegal international has contributed energy when winning the ball, intensity in challenges and quality when helping his side build attacks. He provided an assist against Strasbourg on matchday four.
Although AS Monaco were beaten 1-0 by Lorient on 18 October, Camara again stood out as one of his team’s better performers. His rating reflects the influence he has established in the centre of the Monaco midfield.
Bourabaa’s impressive start at Le Mans
Bourabaa has emerged as one of the early-season surprises at Le Mans. The 21-year-old midfielder scored three goals and supplied two assists during his first five Ligue 1 appearances.
He found the net against Nice before making a decisive contribution against Lens, scoring once and setting up another goal. He scored again against Lorient.
That start also earned Bourabaa a place in the Algeria squad in September. He was not included among the players available for the seventh round of fixtures, but his excellent opening to the campaign has maintained his average rating of 6.20.
Talbi provides defensive authority
Talbi’s influence has come at the other end of the pitch, where he has offered Lorient reliability and experience in central defence.
The Tunisia defender started against AS Monaco on 18 October as Lorient secured a 1-0 win. Noah Cadiou scored the decisive penalty in the 61st minute.
Talbi helped Lorient withstand Monaco’s attacking pressure and protect their advantage, adding to his reputation for strength in duels and defensive organisation.
Together, the four players demonstrate the range of African influence in Ligue 1: Sinayoko’s attacking efficiency, Camara’s midfield control, Bourabaa’s creativity and goals, and Talbi’s defensive solidity.
