Andriy Lunin backs Kylian Mbappe for Ballon d’Or glory

Published on: 03 October 2026

Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin believes his Real Madrid team-mate Kylian Mbappe will win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The prestigious award will be presented at a ceremony in London on 26 October. The previous edition was won by France and Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele.

Mbappe finished as the leading scorer in La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the 2026 World Cup. Despite those achievements, the France striker has never won the Ballon d’Or.

He will turn 27 while still waiting to claim the individual prize.
