Barcelona can match the best start in the club’s history in La Liga if they beat Getafe in their next league fixture.
The Catalan side are on the brink of equalling the record set in 2013, when Barcelona began the season with eight consecutive victories under manager Tata Martino.
That run included a 7-0 win against Levante, as well as 4-0 victories over Rayo and Real Sociedad.
However, Barcelona’s impressive opening did not lead to the league title that season. Atletico Madrid finished as champions, with Barcelona three points behind them.
Barcelona ended the campaign level on points with Real Madrid but finished second.
