Bologna moved to victory in their away match against Cagliari in the eighth round of Serie A, winning 2-0.
Neither side could break the deadlock before half-time, with both teams still in contention for a positive result. The match was therefore likely to be decided by whichever side could make the most of its opportunities after the interval.
Bologna took the lead in the 57th minute when defender Nicola Casale found the net for the visitors. Cagliari were then forced to commit more players forward in search of an equaliser.
Their efforts left them vulnerable at the other end, and Bologna extended their advantage in the 80th minute. Federico Bernardeschi scored to settle the contest and confirm the final score.
