Brest seek home boost against struggling Nice in Ligue 1

Published on: 21 October 2026

Brest host OGC Nice on Friday, 23 October 2026, with both teams aiming to move closer to the top half of the Ligue 1 table. The match at Stade Francis-Le Ble begins at 18:45 GMT and will open the competition’s eighth matchday.

Brest sit 10th after seven matches and come into the game having drawn 1-1 with Lille, despite taking the lead. Their record of two wins, three draws and two defeats reflects a relatively even start to the campaign, while their 13 goals make them one of the more productive attacking sides in the division.

However, Brest have not been as convincing at home and will need to improve their performances in front of their own supporters if they are to take advantage of Nice’s current difficulties.

Nice have also won twice this season, but two draws and three defeats leave them in a challenging position. They were beaten 2-1 by Lyon in their most recent league match and have scored only six goals so far.

The visitors’ away form is a particular concern. Nice have lost their past four matches on the road and will be looking to end that run while also improving their attacking output against Brest.

Recent meetings and match details

Brest had the better of the two league meetings between the sides last season, recording one victory and one draw. Neither team scored in all seven of the previous encounters between Brest and Nice, a notable pattern ahead of Friday’s match.

The game will be played at Stade Francis-Le Ble in Brest. In France, it will be shown on Ligue 1+ and DAZN, while viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland can watch on Ligue 1+. DAZN will also broadcast the match in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain.

Ligue 1+ holds the rights in Italy. The match is available on beIN SPORTS in the United States and across the Middle East and North Africa. In sub-Saharan Africa, coverage will be provided by SuperSport, Canal+ Afrique and DStv Now, with CazeTV showing the game in Brazil.

Brest are marginal favourites before kick-off, with a 45% chance of victory compared with 24% for a draw and 31% for Nice to win. Their stronger attacking record and home advantage give them the edge, although Nice remain capable of producing an upset.

The pre-match prediction is a 2-0 victory for Brest.
