Como v Roma ends Serie A’s 53-match run without a goalless draw

Published on: 12 October 2026

Como’s meeting with Roma became the first goalless match of the current Serie A season, ending a run of 53 consecutive fixtures in which at least one goal had been scored.

The 0-0 draw was an unexpected outcome in a game that had not appeared especially likely to produce the league’s first scoreless result.

However, the match did not set a Serie A record. In the 1949-50 season, the competition’s first goalless draw did not arrive until the seventh round, when Milan played Lazio.

Last season began with a 0-0 draw in the opening match, while six scoreless games were recorded across the first six rounds.
