Atalanta midfielder Charles De Ketelaere has confirmed he held discussions with Paris St-Germain over a possible summer transfer, but the French club ultimately chose Torres instead.
The 25-year-old Belgium international said Atalanta were prepared to let him leave for about 50m euros.
De Ketelaere remains pleased with his situation in Italy, particularly the regular starting opportunities he has received since moving on from a spell at AC Milan. However, he admitted he would like to challenge for trophies at some point in his career.
“I spoke with PSG, but in the end they chose Torres,” De Ketelaere said.
The midfielder scored five goals and provided seven assists in all competitions last season. He has yet to register a goal or assist in the current campaign.
