Roma forward Donyell Malen has been named the best player in Serie A for August and September.
He will receive the award before Roma’s seventh-round league match against Genoa on 17 October.
The winner was decided using the results of an online supporters’ vote alongside individual performance data. Malen finished ahead of Davide Frattesi of Lazio, Giorgi Kvernadze of Frosinone, Daniel Maldini of Cagliari, Lautaro Martinez of Inter and Adrien Rabiot of Milan.
The assessment also drew on information from the Hawk-Eye system and the Kama Sport analytical platform.
Those tools measure more than conventional statistics and technical actions, taking into account players’ off-the-ball movement, their decisions during matches and their contribution to the team’s overall effectiveness.
