Edo Queens hold a commanding 3-0 lead over USFA at half-time in their semi-final of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament for the UFOA-B zone.
The Nigerian side took control of the tie with three goals in the space of 20 minutes, leaving the Burkinabe team facing a demanding second half if they are to overturn the deficit and keep their hopes of progressing alive.
Doosuur Anastasia Atume opened the scoring in the 25th minute, giving Edo Queens the advantage after a period in which they had begun to impose their rhythm on the match.
USFA were unable to respond before the interval, and Edo Queens extended their lead eight minutes before half-time. Esther Moses found the net in the 43rd minute to make it 2-0 and put further pressure on the Burkinabe side.
The Nigerian team struck again in the 45th minute, with Valentina UROKO completing the first-half scoring. Her goal gave Edo Queens a three-goal cushion as the players went into the dressing rooms.
Edo Queens’ performance before the break was built around their control of the game’s tempo. Their intensity and attacking efficiency created significant difficulties for USFA, who struggled to prevent the Nigerians from adding to their initial advantage.
For USFA, the immediate task is to produce a much stronger response after the interval. The Burkinabe side must find a way to disrupt Edo Queens’ momentum and begin reducing the deficit if they are to remain competitive in the semi-final.
The scoreline reflects a highly productive opening period for Edo Queens, who converted their superiority into goals through Atume, Moses and UROKO. USFA, meanwhile, face the second half three goals behind and with little margin for error.
The match is part of the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament in the UFOA-B zone, with the two teams competing in the semi-final stage. Edo Queens’ three-goal advantage at half-time places them in a strong position, while USFA must now attempt an exceptional turnaround after conceding three times before the break.
No further goals were recorded before the teams left the field at half-time. The final outcome will depend on whether USFA can alter the momentum of the contest in the second period or whether Edo Queens can maintain the authority they established during the opening 45 minutes.
