Enyimba technical coach Emmanuel Deutsch says his side are ready to claim maximum points against Inter Lagos in a crucial Nigeria Professional Football League match on Sunday.
The Peoples Elephant are seeking a return to winning form after suffering consecutive away defeats by Niger Tornadoes and Doma United.
Despite those results, Deutsch has moved to reassure supporters that there is no crisis within the team and insists the players remain in a positive frame of mind ahead of the fixture.
“There is no fire on the mountain. We played two away matches and I thought the team would at least pick a point from those games, but unfortunately, we failed in our quest,” Deutsch told Completesports.com.
Enyimba will now attempt to use home advantage to respond to their recent setbacks. Deutsch said the match must end in victory for the club’s supporters in Abia, while stressing that Inter Lagos would not be taken lightly because of their position in the league table.
“Our home game against Inter Lagos must be a victory for the home fans and supporters of Abia,” he said.
“The spirit in camp is high, and we are not going to underestimate Inter Lagos despite their position in the league table. What is more important is that we are prepared to pick the three points.”
Deutsch’s comments come as Enyimba prepare for a match the club sees as an opportunity to rebuild momentum following the two losses on the road. The coach said confidence within the squad was strong and that the players were focused on delivering the result required at home.
He also called on Enyimba’s supporters to create a strong atmosphere inside the stadium by attending in large numbers and offering vocal backing throughout the game.
“I want to appeal to the fans to come out in their usual colours to support Enyimba. I want them to fill up every space in the stadium,” he added.
The match gives Enyimba the chance to end their recent run of away disappointment in front of their home support. Deutsch’s message to the squad and fans is clear: while Inter Lagos will be respected, the priority is securing all three points on Sunday.
