Frosinone beat high-flying Como 2-0 at Stadio Benito Stirpe to secure consecutive Serie A home wins for the first time since 2023 and bring the visitors’ unbeaten start to the season to an end.
Como were close to taking the lead after only seven minutes, but somehow failed to score three times in the space of 10 seconds.
Anastasios Douvikas saw his close-range header kept out by Lorenzo Palmisani, before Martin Baturina’s effort from just inside the penalty area was blocked on the line.
The ball was then worked towards the six-yard box and diverted towards goal by Lucas Da Cunha, but Palmisani reacted quickly to push the attempt against his right-hand post.
Frosinone took advantage of those escapes and went ahead seven minutes later.
Romano Schmid pulled the ball back to Giacomo Calo inside the area, with the midfielder’s first-time shot taking a deflection off Luis Mila. That wrong-footed Como goalkeeper Jean Butez and left him with no chance.
Como almost levelled before the interval through Nico Paz, but Frosinone doubled their advantage in the third minute of added time.
The hosts broke forward, with Schmid finding Giorgi Kvernadze. The forward evaded Anthony Oyono inside the penalty area before striking beyond Butez to give Frosinone a significant half-time lead.
Palmisani keeps Como at bay
Palmisani remained central to the contest after the break, making saves to deny Paz and half-time substitute Moise Kean.
Kean provided a lively threat for Como and, fewer than 10 minutes later, escaped his marker and drove into the area. His powerful low shot was again stopped by Palmisani.
Frosinone continued to pose a danger on the counter-attack and nearly put the result beyond doubt with 25 minutes remaining. Antonio Raimondo’s long-range effort narrowly missed the right-hand post.
Jesus Rodriguez went closer moments later, but Palmisani stretched out his right hand to make another impressive save from the edge of the area.
Como were unable to find a way through as Frosinone protected their clean sheet and secured three points that lifted them to fifth in the table.
The result sees the two sides swap places, with Como dropping below Frosinone after suffering a fifth defeat in their last six league head-to-head meetings.
Lorenzo Palmisani was named Flashscore’s Man of the Match.
