Guinea came from behind to beat Mali 2-1 in a decisive UFOA A U17 encounter on Monday, securing their place in the semi-finals of the competition.
The Syli National Cadet were punished inside the opening two minutes, when Adama Keita gave the Aiglons du Mali an early lead. Guinea were caught cold but quickly settled and began to take control of possession as they looked for a response.
Their pressure was rewarded in the 32nd minute. Salif Camara produced an excellent direct free-kick to bring Guinea level and restore their hopes of claiming the result they needed.
The match became more intense after half-time, with both sides competing in a closely fought contest. Guinea returned from the interval with greater organisation and a sharper attacking approach, reflecting the impact of the coaching staff’s decisions.
That improvement eventually produced the winning goal in the 72nd minute. Facinet Camara struck with a decisive shot to put Guinea in front for the first time.
Mali pushed forward in the closing stages in search of an equaliser, but Guinea held firm under sustained pressure. The victory confirmed their place in the last four and underlined their ambitions in the continental tournament.
