Hull City have officially strengthened their squad with the signing of Ghanaian-born forward Ilyas Ansah from Union Berlin for €17m.
The 21-year-old has agreed a contract with the Premier League newcomers that runs until the middle of 2031, completing a significant addition to the club’s attacking options.
Ansah joins Hull City after his spell with Union Berlin, with the English club confirming the transfer and the fee involved. The move sees the forward leave Germany for a new challenge in England as Hull prepare for life in the Premier League.
The deal makes Ansah one of the latest arrivals at the promoted club and gives Hull a young attacking player tied to the team for the long term. His contract extends through to mid-2031, underlining the length of the commitment made by both player and club.
Ansah is 21 and was born of Ghanaian origin. Although his senior international future remains open, he has represented Germany at youth level. That means he can still choose to play for Ghana at full international level.
His appearances for Germany’s youth teams do not prevent him from representing Ghana, leaving his international career undecided at this stage. For now, the focus is on his move from Union Berlin to Hull City and the opportunity to establish himself in the Premier League.
Hull have secured the transfer for €17m, while Ansah has signed terms lasting until 2031. The agreement confirms the club’s intention to build around a young player whose international background gives him eligibility for both Germany and Ghana, despite his previous involvement with German youth sides.
The forward’s arrival is now official, with Hull City adding Ansah to their squad ahead of their Premier League campaign. His transfer from Union Berlin is the defining detail of the move, while the length of his deal gives the club several seasons in which to develop and rely on him.
Ansah’s next stage will come in England after he made his name within the German football system. He now begins his Hull City career as a 21-year-old forward recruited for €17m, with his contract securing his future at the club until the middle of 2031.
The signing also leaves the question of his senior international allegiance open. Ansah has already played for Germany’s youth teams, but he remains eligible to represent Ghana at senior level. That choice has not been settled by the transfer, which instead marks his arrival at Hull City as the club’s latest official recruit.
